christmas with louise, as a joke , my brother, jay, used to hang a pair of panty hose over his fireplace before christmas. he said all he wanted was for santa to fill them., what they say about santa reviewing behavior and checking the list twice must be true because every christmas morning, although jay s kids stockings overflowed, his poor pantyhose hung sadly empty., year i decided to make his dream come true. i put on sunglasses and with a hat pulled down and went in search of an inflatable love doll. they don tsp sell those things at walmart., i had to go to an adult bookstore downtown. if you ve never been in an x-rated store, don tsp go. you ll only confuse yourself. i was there an hour saying things like, what does this do you re kidding me! who would buy that finally, i made it to the inflatable doll section. i wanted to buy a standard, uncomplicated doll that could also substitute as a passenger in my car so i could use the car pool lane, during rush hour. finding what i wanted was difficult. love dolls come in many different models. the top of the line , according to the side of the box, could do things i d only seen in a book on animal husbandry. i settled for lovable louise. she was at the bottom of the price scale. to call louise a doll took a huge leap of imagination., on christmas eve , with the help of an old bicycle pump, louise came to life., my sister-in-law was in on the plan and let me in during the wee morning hours, long after santa had come and gone, i filled the dangling pantyhose with louise s pliant legs and bottom. i also ate some cookies and drank what remained of a glass of milk on a nearby tray. i went home, and giggled for a couple of hours., next morning my brother called to say that santa had been to his house and left a present that had made him very happy but had left the dog confused. she would bark, start to walk away, then come back and bark some more. we all agreed that louise should remain in her panty hose so the rest of the family could admire her when they came over for the traditional christmas dinner., my grandmother noticed louise the moment she walked in the door. what the hell is that she asked. my brother quickly explained , it s a doll. . who would play with something like that granny snapped. i had several candidates in mind, but kept my mouth shut. where are her clothes granny continued., boy , that turkey sure smells nice, gran, jay said, trying to steer her into the dining room. but granny was relentless. why doesn tsp she have any teeth again, i could have answered, but why would i it was christmas and no 1 wanted to ride in the back of the ambulance saying, hang on granny! hang on! ., my grandfather , a delightful old man with very poor eyesight, sidled up to me and said, hey, who s the naked gallon by the fireplace i told him she was jay s friend. a few minutes later i noticed grandpa by the mantel, talking to louise. not just talking, but actually flirting. it was then that we realized this might be grandpa s last christmas at home., dinner went well. we made the usual small talk about who had died , who was dying, and who should be killed, when suddenly louise made a noise that sounded a lot like my father in the bathroom in the morning. then she lurched from the panty hose, flew around the room twice, and fell in a heap in front of the sofa. the cat screamed. i passed cranberry sauce through my nose, and grandpa ran across the room, fell to his knees, and began administering mouth to mouth resuscitation. my brother fell back over his chair and wet his pants laughing and granny threw down her napkin, stomped out of the room, and sat in the car., it was indeed a christmas to treasure and remember. later in my brother s garage, we conducted a thorough examination to decide the cause of louise s collapse. we discovered that louise had suffered from a hot ember to the back of her right thigh. fortunately, thanks to a wonder drug called duct tape , we restored her to perfect health., louise went on to star in several bachelor party movies. i think grandpa still asks about her whenever he can get out of the house

white sugar, heavy cream, butter, marshmallow creme, white chocolate chips, red food coloring, as desired, green food coloring, as desired

butter, evaporated milk, sugar, salt, marshmallows (4 oz), semi-sweet chocolate chips (9 oz), pecans or 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped, vanilla extract

semisweet chocolate morsels, butterscotch chips (3/4 of a 12-oz bag), sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, walnut halves, currants (a couple of handfuls) (optional), candied red cherries, for garnish, green glazed cherries, for garnish

unsalted butter, evaporated milk, vanilla, salt, granulated sugar, marshmallows (open), milk chocolate chips (open), walnuts, chopped (optional)

cream cheese, sugar, almond extract, christmas green paste food coloring, chopped almonds, cranberries, rinsed and drained

fudge marble cake mix, such as (pillsbury plus fudge swirl cake mix), vegetable oil, egg, sugar, sour cream, milk, cream cheese (softened ), eggs, vanilla

christmas plum pudding, milk, double cream, vanilla ice cream, brandy

christmas honey fruit drops, mixed chopped candied fruits and peels , chopped candied cherries, raisins, and chopped pecans, bourbon, brown sugar, honey, butter or margarine, eggs, all purpose flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, baking powder, dairy sour cream, combine fruits , nuts, and bourbon. cover, let stand several hours. in mixer bowl cream sugar, honey, and butter or margarine. beat in eggs. mix dry ingredients. add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. stir fruit mixture into creamed mixture. drop by tsp onto greased cookie sheet. bake in 350 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes. cool on wire rack. frost, if desired. makes about 5 dozen cookies.

homemade pizza rolls, shredded pizza cheese or mozzarella cheese, sausage, cooked, drained, sliced pepperoni, chopped, green pepper, finely chopped, fresh sliced mushrooms, coarsely chopped, onion, finely chopped, chopped black olives, pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce, egg roll wraps, oil (for frying ), combine above ingredients except wrappers (and oil)., place a 1/4 cup filling in center of each egg roll. fold bottom corner over filling. fold sides toward center over filling. moisten remaining corner w/water and roll up tightly to seal. fry in 1-inch of 375o oil for 1-2 minutes til golden brown., serve with addition pizza sauce for dipping if desired., extra cooked rolls can be frozen ., reheat :., place on cookie sheet and bake in 375o oven for 20-25 minutes til heated through and nice and crispy on the outside., i make some with homemade sausage, some with chopped peperoni, some with a couple of my italian cheese blends, etc., your only limited to what you can imagine

fudge brownie pie, unbaked pastry shell, semi-sweet chocolate chip, butter or margarine, cn eagle brand sweetened -condensed milk (14 oz), all-purpose biscuit baking mix, eggs, ts vanilla extract, chopped nuts, heat the oven to 375f. bake the pastry shell for 1 minutes and remove from the oven. reduce the oven temperature to 325f. in a small saucepan over very low heat, melt the chocolate chips with the butter., in a large bowl, beat the chocolate mixture with the remaining, ingredients except the nuts , until smooth. stir in the nuts. pour into, baked pastry shell. bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until the center, is set. cool. serve warm or at room temperature, with ice cream if, makes 1 9-inch pie .

fudge brownie pie, pastry for 1 9 pie crust, semisweet chocolate chips, butter or margarine, granulate sugar, light brown sugar , packed measure, milk, light corn syrup, vanilla extract, eggs, salt, chopped walnuts, chopped walnuts , as a garnish, roll out the pastry and line a 9 pie pan. preheat the oven to 350 degrees. in a medium saucepan over very low heat warm the chocolate chips and butter until both are just melted. remove the pan from heat and stir in the granulated sugar, brown sugar, milk, corn syrup, vanilla, eggs and salt. beat with an electric beater until well blended. stir in 1 cup chopped walnuts., pour into the prepared pie shell. bake the pie at 350 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes or until puffed. serve warm or at room temperature topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of chopped walnuts.

homemade fresh pumpkin pie, pastry crust, eggs, milk, fresh pumpkin puree (instructions below), melted butter, unsalted, sugar, dark molasses, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, salt, heavy cream, cold, preheat oven to 350 degrees f., heat milk in saucepan over medium heat until it just starts to bubble around the edges. remove from heat., beat eggs lightly in large bowl until frothy. add scalded milk , stirring constantly., stir in pumpkin , butter, sugar, molasses, cinnamon, ginger and salt. whisk until thoroughly blended., pour filling into prepared crust , bake until center is firm, about 45 minutes. cool completely on wire rack., when ready to serve , beat chilled cream with mixer until soft peaks form. serve on top of pie or in a separate bowl for individual serving., make pumpkin puree from a fresh pumpkin, split a medium pumpkin crosswise , remove and discard seeds and fibers., place pumpkin , cut side down, on lightly greased baking sheet. bake at 325f until tender, about 1 hour., scrape pulp away from skin , discard skin., place pulp in blender or food processor fitted with metal blade, process in batches, until smooth., push puree through a coarse sieve. measure 1 1/4 cups puree for recipe , store remaining puree up to 6 months in the freezer (tightly covered).
