Molasses  Taffy Squares

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup walnuts

Directions:

  1. Combine shotening and molasses and cook over low heat 2 minutes stirring constantly.
  2. Add soda and brown sugar.
  3. Stir until sugar dissolves
  4. Cool
  5. Beat eggs until light and fluffy
  6. Combine with molasses mixture.
  7. Mixing well.
  8. Sift flour with salt
  9. Add to molasses mixture
  10. Pour into 9 inch greased and ffloured
  11. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts
  12. Bake 35 to 40 minutes in 350 degree oven makes 10 squares.
