Ingredients:

  • 6 (1 pint) wide mouth canning jars
  • 1 cake mix , your choice of flavors
  • 1 package (4 serving size) vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 2/3 cup oil

Directions:

  1. Jars, seals and bands must be sterilized prior to use.
  2. Cover with water and boil for 15 minutes.
  3. Dry jars.
  4. Allow seals and bands to remain in hot water or re-heat before cakes are finished baking.
  5. Preheat oven to 325F.
  6. Blend all ingredients, except candy.
  7. Mix for about 2 minutes.
  8. Add a handful of candy.
  9. Grease jars with shortening.
  10. Pour one cup of cake batter into each jar.
  11. Drop a few candies on top of batter.
  12. Place jars on a cookie sheet, careful not to touch each other.
  13. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE!.
  14. Carefully remove from oven and place on heat resistant surface.
  15. Place seals and screw bands on jars. Do not over tighten.
  16. Let cool.
  17. To decorate:
  18. Tie raffia or ribbon around edge of lid.
  19. Write recipe on index cards and give a cake and recipe to someone special!
  20. For prolonged storage, keep cakes in refrigerator.
