Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups strong coffee
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Lightly greased and flour a 9 x 13 inch baking pan, set aside.
  3. Bring the first five ingredients to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionslly.
  4. Cool 10 minutes.
  5. Blend the dry ingredients together and stir into the boiled mixture.
  6. Pour batter into pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
