Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 4 cups flour (this can vary a bit. it should be dry enough to roll out and not be messy, but moist enough not to b)
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Cream together the shortening and the sugar until light and fluffy using whisk or a mixer.
  3. Add in the eggs, vanilla and sour cream. Mix until well combined.
  4. Add in the dry ingredients, adding the flour bit by bit until the dough comes together but is not crumbly.
  5. Chill for at least one hour, but preferably overnight.
  6. Bake 8-10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet (though you could line with parchment if you wanted to.) Bake until light golden brown.
  7. When cooled, ice if desired.
