Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups softened butter (3 sticks)
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 3/4 cups sifted cocoa
  • 2 1/2 tsps baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Beat butter and sugar together until fluffy.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla extract, and mix well.
  3. In another bowl, sift flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt together.
  4. Add to butter mixture, mixing until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  5. Divide dough in half, roll into logs, wrap, and refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours.
  6. Cut logs into 1/4 inch thick slices.
  7. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets 350* for 12 to 14 minutes.
  8. Makes 5 dozen
