Romantic Black Forest Pancakes

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 cups of pancake mix
  • 1-1/2 tbsp of sugar
  • 1 cup plus 2 tbsp of water
  • 1/2 can cherries
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp brandy flavoring
  • whipped cream

Directions:

  1. Stir pancake ingredients together. Put a 1/4 cup of mixture onto hot greased griddle.
  2. Cook until edges begins to lightly brown and bubble, then flip and cook other side.
  3. For Cherry Sauce: drain cherries reserving liquid.
  4. Add enough water to liquid to make one cup liquid.
  5. Pour liquid into medium saucepan and add sugar and cornstarch.
  6. Bring to a boil stirring continuously. Boil for one minute or until thickened then remove from heat.
  7. Stir in drained cherries, Brandy and almond extract.
  8. Serve warm.
  9. To assemble the Black Forest Pancakes:
  10. Put pancakes on plate, top with Cherry sauce and add a dollop of whipped cream.
  11. You can then garnish with chocolate sprinkles.
