Ingredients:

  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 4 cups quick oats
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Mix sugar, shortening, buttermilk and vanilla.
  2. Stir in dry ingredients.
  3. Using a 1 inch cookie scoop, drop 3 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. Flatten cookies with glass dipped in water.
  5. Bake at 375 for 6-8 minutes, or until golden.
  6. Store tightly covered.
  7. Makes 7 dozen cookies.
