Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. velvetta cheese, cut in chunks (for easier melting, or melt ahead of time in the microwave to speed up the melting process)
  • 2/3 tsp. oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 loaves hearty rye cocktail bread

Directions:

  1. Brown the ground beef & sausage, drain & return to pan.(if there's big meat chunks, break them up)
  2. Add the Velvetta cheese chunks. And over medium high heat let cheese melt, stirring to combine it with the meat.
  3. After cheese is melted & combined, stir in the Worchestershire sauce, oregano, & garlic powder.
  4. Spread meat/cheese mixture onto Rye bread and place on cookie sheets.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
  6. This also can be made ahead. Do all the stovetop work, and put mixture on bread slices, then on cookie sheets to put in the freezer for 1 hour or till frozen. Place in ziplock baggies or any container and take to your gathering. Then pop them in the oven set at 350 for 10 minutes.
  7. The servings say 30, only because each bread loaf says 15 servings. It could feed that many, only if everyone had 3 pieces. And at our gatherings, everyone eats more than 3 each. Now beings there's only 3 of us to eat this, we always have plenty left in the freezer to cook up whenever we want a snack, or have company
