  1. Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add chocolate, mixing well.
  2. Combine 1 1/2 cups flour, soda, and salt; gradually add to chocolate mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Dredge marshmallows, dates, orange rind, and pecans with remaining 1/4 cup flour; stir to coat well. Add date mixture and vanilla to batter; stir well.
  3. Spoon batter into 2 greased 8 1/2- x 4 1/2- x 3-inch loaf pans. Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool in pans 20 minutes; remove from pans, and place on wire racks to cool completely. Top with Orange Frosting.
