Dried Pear Bread

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz dried pear halves
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup orange juice

Directions:

  1. Cover dried pears with 2 c.
  2. Hot water and let soak 30 minutes.
  3. Drain pears and snip into small pieces.
  4. Sift dry ingredients together (except sugar).
  5. Combine in another bowl sugar, butter, egg, 1/4 c.
  6. Water and orange juice.
  7. Mix well; add dry ingredients.
  8. Stir in pears and pecans.
  9. Pour mixture into a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan, which has been lightly greased and floured.
  10. Bake at 350F for 55-60 minutes.
  11. Cool 10 minutes on a wire rack; remove from pan and cool completely on rack.
  12. Makes 1 loaf.
  13. May be frozen.
