Dolores Miller's Toll House Kookie Brittle

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb butter or 1/2 lb margarine
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 cup finely chopped walnuts

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Combine butter or margarine, salt & vanilla. Blend well.
  3. Gradually beat in sugar.
  4. Take off the beaters and add flour and chocolate bits by hand.
  5. Spread evenly in an ungreased 15x11 jelly roll pan.
  6. Top with walnuts.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until golden (not brown).
  8. Remove from oven and cut. Allow to cool.
  9. Place in covered tin and hide it!
