Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp orange rind
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup nuts

Directions:

  1. Place chopped dates and orange rind in small bowl.
  2. Cover with boiling water and orange juice.
  3. Let rest while preparing the following:.
  4. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda in bowl and whisk to mix evenly.
  5. In the mixer bowl cream butter and sugar til creamy.
  6. Add egg and mix well.
  7. Add flour mixture and date mixture and blend for 2 minutes.
  8. Fold in nuts.
  9. Grease and flour a bread pan.
  10. Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes. Let stand about 10 minutes before turning out.
