Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Add shortening and salt to boiling water, stir over medium heat until mixture boils again.
  2. Lower heat add flour all at once and stir vigorously until mixture leaves the sides of the pan.
  3. Remove from heat add 1 egg at a time beating in vigorously after each addition.
  4. Drop by tablespoonful onto ungreased baking pan.
  5. Bake 450'degrees F for 20 minutes reduce temperature to 350' degrees F.
  6. Bake about 20 minutes longer.
  7. Remove and place on rack to cool.
  8. PASTRY CREAM: Place all ingredients in a saucepan.
  9. Over medium high beat, bring to a boil stirring constantly until thick.
  10. Allow to cool completely.
  11. Stirring often to keep skin from forming.
  12. Cut top off cream puff and fill and refrigerate.
