Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375.
  2. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In large bowl, combine butter, shortening, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla; beat until creamy.
  4. Beat in egg.
  5. Gradually add flour mixture and mix well.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts with a wooden spoon, mix well.
  7. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2-inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 6-10 minutes. Check after 5 minutes (some ovens vary-mine is 6 minutes).
  8. Cool on cookie sheet for about 2 minutes. Remove to rack and cool completely.
