Ingredients:

  • 1 1/3 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar , packed
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 small cinnamon stick (optional)

Directions:

  1. Mix the flour together with the baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  2. Layer the ingredients in the glass jar (pressing each layer firmly in place before adding on the next layer).
  3. This is optional; push a small cinnamon stick into the side of the mixture (make certain that it is showing through the glass).
  4. Include a card with the following instructions**.
  5. Set oven to 350 degrees.
  6. Grease cookie sheet/s.
  7. Mix 1/2 cup melted butter or margarine with 1 egg and 2 teaspoons vanilla.
  8. Stir in the entire contents of the jar; mix until combined (you may need your hands to finish the mixing).
  9. Shape in small balls.
  10. Place 2-inches apart on cookie sheets.
  11. Bake for 11-13 minutes.
