Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. In a bowl with a mixer, beat butter with sugar until smoothly blended.
  2. Beat in egg yolk.
  3. Add flour to butter mixture.
  4. Beat until well mixed.
  5. Evenly press dough into buttered and floured 10- by 15-inch pan.
  6. In a bowl with a fork, beat egg white to blend.
  7. Spread over dough with pastry brush.
  8. Sprinkle chopped nuts over dough, then press them in.
  9. Bake in a 275° F oven until golden brown, about 45 minutes.
  10. Cut while hot into 1 1/2-inch squares.
  11. Use a small spatula to lift from pan.
  12. Let cool.
  13. Serve or store airtight up to 4 days, or freeze to store longer.
