Brownie Date Tart

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • filling
  • 1 cup slivered almonds
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup chopped dates

Directions:

  1. Beat butter until soft; beat in 2 tablespoons sugar; add egg yolks.
  2. Stir in flour.
  3. Shape into smooth ball and press onto bottom and sides of 9 inch tart or springform pan.
  4. Melt Chocolate in saucepan over low heat; cool.
  5. Toast slivered almonds, then chop.
  6. Beat egg whites until foamy throughout.
  7. Gradually beat in 3/4 cup sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks will form, about 10 minutes.
  8. Blend in chocolate and vanilla.
  9. Add almonds and dates; spread evenly in crust.
  10. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until crust is golden; cool.
  11. Remove outer ring.
  12. Garnish with whipped topping, almonds and chocolate curls.
