Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 5 tbsp water , the raisins were boiled in
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 cups water

Directions:

  1. Bring the raisins to a boil in a saucepan with the 2 cups water. Simmer for 5 minutes. Let cool. Reserve 5 tablespoons of water from the raisins. Drain the rest of the water from the raisins.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar. Add the eggs and beat again. Stir in the raisin water.
  3. Sift the flour and spices together; mix into the creamed butter/sugar/egg mixture. Fold in the raisins, rolled oats and walnuts.
  4. Drop by tablespoonsful onto greased cookie sheets and bake at 350° for 10-15 minutes until top springs back when pressed lightly.
