Mary's Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup brown sugar , firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

Directions:

  1. Beat together shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Add combined remaining ingredients; mix well.
  2. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.
  3. Bake at 350°F for 12-15 minutes.
  4. For variety; add chopped nuts, raisins, chocolate chips or coconut.
