Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar , firmly packed
  • 2 1/4 cups cake flour , sifted
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp clove
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions:

  1. Cream shortening and sugar.
  2. Add applesauce.
  3. Sift dry ingredients together and gradully beat into first mixture.
  4. Add nuts.
  5. Pour into greased pan and bake at 325 degrees for one hour.
