Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Prepare your strawberries. Cap and wash them.
  2. Slice strawberries until you have 1 1/2 cups of strawberry slices.
  3. Now dice strawberries into a small bowluntil you have 3/4 cups of them. Keep them separate for now.
  4. Grease and flour 13x9 baking pan and preheat oven to 350.
  5. Measure out 1/2 cup of the cake mix and combine with the oats in a small bowl.
  6. Cut butter into oat-cake mix mixture until it looks like coarse crumbs then set it aside for your topping.
  7. Place your 1 1/2 cups of sliced strawberries in a blender or a food processor along with the 2 Tbsp of water and process or blend until smooth, then stir them into the diced strawberries in the small bowl. You will have a strawberry puree with chunks of strawberry in it. Set this bowl aside.
  8. In a large bowl, combine the rest of the dry cake mix with the egg whites, applesauce, spices and the 3/4 cup of water. Beat about 30 seconds at low speed of your mixer, just enough to moisten, then beat at medium speed about 2 minutes longer.
  9. Pour batter into your prepared pan.
  10. Gently spread the strawberry mixture evenly over the batter..
  11. Sprinkle with oat topping.
  12. Bake 30 to 34 minutes at 350, until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
  13. Cool completely in pan before cutting.
