Sour Cream Nut Cookies With Burnt Butter Icing

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 1/3 cup of flour
  • 2 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp of baking soda
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 cup of finely chopped (fresh ) pecans
  • 8 tbsp of butter
  • 2 cups of sifted confectioner's sugar
  • 1 tsp of vanilla
  • 2 - 4 tbsp of boiling water

Directions:

  1. Beat together butter, sugar and eggs thrououghly.
  2. Stir dry ingredients and add alternately with sour cream.
  3. Stir in nuts.
  4. Drop by teaspoon two inches apart on a greased cookie sheet.
  5. Bake at 400 degrees about 8 minutes.
  6. Icing:
  7. Melt butter and let cook until golden brown. Blend in conf. sugar and vanilla off heat. Stir in some boiling water. Icing will be thin.
  8. If it thickens while cooling, add a little more boiling water. Keep warm and spread over cooled cookies.
