Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Directions:

  1. Combine shortening, white sugar, milk, and cocoa in saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil. Then add vanilla.
  3. Combine rolled oats, coconut, and salt.
  4. Stir this mixture into chocolate mixture. Stir to moisten.
  5. Drop onto pan lined with wax paper to set; or roll in coconut. Makes 58- 1 inch cookies.
