Amazing Red Velvet Cake With Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients:

  • (cake ingredients)
  • 2 1/2 cups cake flour or 2 1/4 regular flour
  • 3 tbsp cocoa
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 - 1 oz bottles food color
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 - 8 oz package of cream cheese
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 package of confectioners sugar

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Grease and dust with flour two 9 inch round cake pans
  3. Sift together flour, cocoa, salt & baking powder in a large bowl and set aside.
  4. Sift sugar separate and set aside.
  5. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy
  6. Beat in eggs 1 at a time making sure not to overbeat.
  7. Add vanilla
  8. Beat in red food color - scrape down sides of bowl with spatula
  9. Alternate adding flour mix and buttermilk (4 times) ending with flour Dissolve baking soda and vinegar in a glass bowl - add to batter at medium speed.
  10. Bake 25 30 min or until tooth pick inserted in center comes out clean
  11. Frosting - place cream cheese, butter in mixing bowl and beat until smooth. Add sugar and beat. Batter will become creamy - add more sugar to suit your taste
