olive oil, spanish onions, sliced, garlic cloves, crushed, red chili pepper flakes, tinned crushed tomatoes, vegetable stock, tomato paste, brown sugar, red lentils, cream, sun-dried tomato pesto (optional)

chicken thighs, i like to use skinelss thights, chicken broth, pesto sauce , i use the store bough in a jar, but i m sure you can use homemade, garlic, crushed, salt and pepper, to taste

red potatoes (your choice to peel ) or 1 1/2 lbs small white potatoes, cut into 3/4-inch cubes (your choice to peel), garlic cloves, minced, bay leaves, garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained (or equivalent amount of freshly cooked beans), vegetable broth or 8 cups vegetable stock, chopped kale (optional), salt and pepper, to taste, pesto sauce (homemade is preferred )
