1. Heat oil and butter over medium heat.
2. Add garlic powder and fry for 30 seconds.
3. Add carrot pieces and fry for 1 minute.
4. Stir in the blended tomatoes and the ramining seasonings.
5. Raise the heat and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour.
6. Remove carrot pieces and bay leaves.
7. Serve w/ Kofta balls over spaghetti.
