1. Dice half a yellow or white onion and sautee over medium heat until just soft.
2. Smash the garlic cloves and roll in salt, then chop finely. Once the onions are soft, add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds.
3. Dice tomatoes (or use no added sodium canned diced tomatoes, as I did) and add with basil, chopped cilantro, salt, and pepper.
4. Add pasta. Add just enough water to cover the pasta, and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring regularly. About 5 minutes before finished cooking, add other spices.
