1. Combine sugar and flour in bowl.
2. Melt butter, shortening, water, and cocoa powder and brink to a boil.
3. Pour mixture over sugar and flour.
4. Stir well.
5. Add remaining ingrdeients and stir until smooth.
6. Pour into two greased and floured layer cake pans.
7. Bake at 325 for twenty-five to thirty minutes.
8. Cool thoroughly before frosting.
