  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 medium onions
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 (16 oz) package wide egg noodles
  • salt and pepper

  • 1 Finely chop cabbage.
  • 2 Put in a pan with salted water to cover.
  • 3 Bring to a boil.
  • 4 Cook 5 minutes.
  • 5 In the meantime, chop onions and saute in 1 C margarine until tender, approximately 10 minutes.
  • 6 Drain cooked cabbage, rinse with cold water, squeeze out the excess water.
  • 7 Mix into the cooked onion; add 1/2 C butter, mix and cook until medium browned, approximately 30 minutes, stirring to prevent overbrowning.
  • 8 Cook noodles 5-6 minutes.
  • 9 Drain; combine with cooked cabbage, mixing well.
  • 10 Season with salt and pepper.
