  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/3 cups milk
  • 8 wooden sticks

  • 1 Preheat oil in a deep fryer to 375 degrees.
  • 2 In a bowl, add the 1 cup of flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together and mix until well combined.
  • 3 Add in milk and egg and stir well until smooth and well blended. Set aside.
  • 4 Place 1/2 cup flour in a shallow dish.
  • 5 Add a skewer to each hotdog.
  • 6 Roll in hot dogs in flour, gently shaking off the excess.
  • 7 Fill a tall drinking glass with corn dog batter.
  • 8 Dip each hotdog into glass of batter while holding the stick, until completely submerged.
  • 9 Slowly pull out of batter and carefully lower into hot oil.
  • 10 Fry until golden brown, usually 3-5 minutes.
  • 11 Drain on paper towels.
