Zelova Vomacka (Sauerkraut Gravy)

This is another Czech recipe that my grandmother used to make. This is great over potato dumplings or over fresh rye bread.
Ingredients:
4 tablespoons lard
4 tablespoons flour
2 cups sauerkraut juice
2 cups milk
1/2 cup sauerkraut
Directions:
1. Melt lard and add flour, stirring well.
2. Add 2 cups sauerkraut juice, stirring constantly and bring to a hard boil.
3. Add milk slowly, stirring constantly. I warm the milk slightly so it doesn't curdle when added.
4. Add sauerkraut and stir.
5. Serve over potato dumplings or fresh rye bread slices.
