This was so good after a hamburger cook-out with all the cousins. From Dot. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
2 cups sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 cup margarine |
3 tablespoons cocoa |
1 cup water |
2 eggs |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 lb confectioners' sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 cup margarine |
4 tablespoons milk |
3 tablespoons cocoa |
1 cup chopped nuts |
Directions:
1. Mix first 3 ingredients in large bowl. 2. Combine next 3 ingredients & bring to a boil in a sauce pan. 3. Remove from heat, pour over first mixture in bowl. Mix well. 4. Add remaining. 5. Bake in greased 11x16 pan 400 F for 20 minutes. Test center. 6. Make Icing - Put sugar and vanilla in small mixmaster bowl. 7. Combine margarine, milk, and cocoa in saucepan. 8. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and pour over confectioners' sugar. Beat quickly, but well. 9. Add nuts. Pour over cake and spread. 10. Good warm or cold. |
