I base my recipe on the Goya recipe but added my own twist . My kids actually love it. Imagine that! Ingredients:
1 (1 lb) package of goya yellow split peas |
4 (14 ounce) cans vegetable broth |
1 small onion, chopped |
1 cup carrot, chopped |
1 cup celery, chopped |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper |
Directions:
1. Rinse peas - no need for soaking. Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil. Lower temperature and simmer for 2-3 hours, or until peas and vegetables are tender, adding water if necessary or desired. |
