Easy, cheesy light bread with no kneading and only one rising. Prep time includes rising. Ingredients:
1 1/2 tablespoons dry yeast |
1 cup water |
1 cup milk |
1/2 cup butter, cut into pieces |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon sugar |
3 eggs, beaten |
1 1/2 cups flour |
8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated (i recommend smoked sharp cheddar) |
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated |
Directions:
1. Combine the yeast and warm water and set aside to dissolve. 2. Scald the milk, then put it in a large bowl. 3. Add the butter, salt and sugar. 4. Whisk in the beaten eggs. 5. Once the milk-butter mixture has cooled to warm-to-the-touch, add the dissolved yeast. 6. Using a strong whisk or wooden spoon, beat the flour in vigorously to make a smooth, shiny dough. 7. Thoroughly mix in the cheeses. 8. Butter or oil a large loaf pan and put in the dough, filling the pan only halfway full. 9. Cover the dough and set it aside to rise for 40 minutes. 10. Bake at 375 for about 50 minutes, or until the bread is browned. 11. Best served warm. |
