I am on a beignet roll! This easy, yeast-free beignets recipe is a snap to throw together the morning after your Mardi Gras celebration. For added authenticity, do as they do at the famed Cafe Du Monde, and add a steaming mug of black chicory-coffee brew or a serving of cafe au lait for a complete breakfast Source: re Mardis Gras recipes Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter |
1 cup water |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
4 eggs |
oil for deep frying |
3 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar or as desired |
Directions:
1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter in the water. 2. Add salt and flour, and stir until a sticky batter is formed. 3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until the batter is smooth. 4. Heat the oil to 375F. 5. Fry mounded teaspoons of dough, several at a time, for about 6 minutes. 6. They are done when they are light, golden brown on each side. 7. Drain them for a few minutes on a clean kitchen towel and serve warm, dusted with the confectioners’ sugar. 8. This beignets recipe makes 28 to 32 fritters. |
