Yeast Dough for Baking or Frying |

Passed down for several generations-our family has used this recipe for everything from cloverleaf rolls to fried bread. It also works as a loaf. If frying the dough, flour hands and pat into pancake size disks. Drop into 1/2 heated oil. Turn when browned. Slice open and serve with butter. Ingredients:
1 (1/4 ounce) package yeast |
1/2 cup warm milk |
4 tablespoons sugar |
1/4 cup warm butter |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 warm egg |
2 1/2 cups flour |
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast in warm water (according to package directions). 2. Mix all remaining ingredients except flour in a large bowl. 3. Add yeast. 4. Gradually add flour. 5. Grease another large bowl. 6. Place dough in greased bowl and let rise. 7. Bake 425°F for 12 - 15 minutes. |
