These biscuits are so easy to make and taste really good. They were made by my gramma whenever we would show up on a week-end night to watch tv. When hot out of the oven, she would butter them and fill with one of her home-made jellies or jam. They were a great snack for us kids. Ingredients:
1 1/4 ounces dry yeast |
1 cup warm water |
3 tablespoons sugar |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon oil |
2 cups flour |
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast in warm water with the sugar salt and oil. Add flour and mix. Let rise 45 minutes, covered. Turn out onto floured board and knead 5 minutes, adding flour as needed. 2. Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter.Place on greased baking sheet or in greased iron skillet. Let rest 15-20 minutes. Bake in 350°F oven about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Keep checking as oven temps do vary. |
