So be it! I might just be tempted to use real whipped cream for this one.
Ingredients:
16 ounce package uncooked orzo pasta
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 (20 ounce) cans crushed pineapple, drained (juice reserved)
1 cup mandarin orange segments, drained and chopped
1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
12 ounce container frozen whipped topping, thawed
Directions:
1. In a large pot of salted boiling water cook orzo until al dente.
2. Rinse pasta under cold water and drain.
3. Set aside.
4. In saucepan combine the sugar, eggs, flour, salt and pineapple juice and cook over medium heat until mixture thickens.
5. Remove from heat and cool.
6. Toss pasta and fruits together in large bowl.
7. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
8. Remove from refrigerator and break up chilled pasta with a spoon.
9. Mix in the pineapple, oranges and cherries.
10. Fold in the thawed whipped topping.
11. Chill.
12. Serve.
