~ Nahuatl Soup~ Ingredients:
2 large chicken breast,roasted and shredded |
2 cups of chicken broth(i roast a whole chicken and use the rich broth from it) |
1 white onion,finely chopped |
1 tomato,peeled,seeded,chopped,coarsely |
1/2 sweet bell pepper,chopped |
1 corn tortilla,julienned in to strips(1 x1/4 ) |
1 lime,cut into thin slices(1/8 ) |
1/2 teaspoon red wine vinegar |

dash or two of garlic powder |
1/8 teaspoon ground coriander seeds |
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin seeds |
black pepper |
Directions:
1. Pour the chicken stock into a soup pot. 2. Add the chopped onion,tomato,green pepper,vinegar and the dry seasonings. 3. Simmer until vegetables are tender. 4. Add the chicken and simmer to combine the flavors. 5. Add the tortilla strips. 6. Place a slice of lime in each bowl and ladle the soup in. Allow the lime to flavor the soup...Serve... 7. ~Xochicalpan,means the place of the house of flowers,and this soup has a wonderful fragrance.~ 8.
