This authentic recipe is from a dinner party I attended and was served by the host along with other authentic Chinese dishes. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil |
1 lb lamb or 1 lb mutton, cut into 1 inch cubes |
1 medium onion, chopped |
1 green bell pepper, chopped |
1 carrot, chopped |
1 turnip, chopped |
2 tomatoes, chopped |
1 inch fresh ginger, finely sliced |
1 1/4 cups water |
1 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. In a deep sided skillet, heat the oil and stir fry the lamb cubes for 2 minutes, until the cubes are lightly browned on all sides. 2. Transfer meat to a dutch oven and add all of the other ingredients. Mix well. 3. Bring to a boil and then cover. Allow to simmer on low heat for 35 minutes. Serve over rice. |
