Lots of flavor!! My hubby's favorite appetizer. Ingredients:
1 lb.large mushrooms (whole) |
2 beaten eggs |
2 c.flour |
1/2 c.cornmeal |
2 t.each:garlic powder,italian seasoning,oregano,black pepper |
1 t.ground red pepper flakes |
dash cayenne pepper |
1 t.louisiana hot sauce |
shortening |
Directions:
1. Melt shortening in hot skillet. 2. Wash and dry mushrooms,set aside. 3. Add 1/2 the spices plus hot sauce to egg mixture. 4. Combine remaining spices w/cornmeal and flour. 5. Dip whole mushrooms in egg,then in flour mixture. 6. Deep fry until dark-golden brown. 7. Blot on paper towels and sprinkle w/hot sauce or dip in ranch dressing. 8. Yowser-too yummy!!! |
