We ate these salads by the truckload when we were in HS. Wong's is a restaurant on Naha Naval Air Station on Okinawa. The best salads ever! This salad will serve a big family and of course, just decrease or increase the ingredients to suit your taste. Ingredients:
4 cups iceberg lettuce, chopped |
4 cups romaine lettuce, chopped |
1 carrot, sliced long and dropped into ice water for curls |
1 small green pepper, julienned |
1 red onion, sliced into rings |
2 scallions, julienned |
1 pint cherry tomatoes, halved |
1 cucumber, sliced (if it's waxy just peel the skin off) |
1/3 lb swiss cheese, julienned |
1/3 lb cheese, american or 1/3 lb cheddar cheese, julienned |
1/3 lb roast beef, thinly sliced and rolled |
1/3 lb ham, thinly sliced and rolled |
1/3 lb turkey, thinly sliced and rolled |
6 hard-cooked eggs, sliced |
1 cup salad dressing (russian or 1,000 isalnd dressing was traditional) |
Directions:
1. Toss the lettuces together and put into a big bowl. Mix in the tomatoes and toss gently. 2. Arrange the rest of ingredients on top of the salad and pass the dressing. |
