I found this online and thought it sounded like a fun thing to do with the kids. I haven't made it, 'cause there is no snow in NW Louisiana! If you're lucky enough to have some fresh snow in your yard..it might just be the thing to keep the kids busy. Ingredients:
1/3 cup shortening |
1 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 3/4 cups flour |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup milk |
2 cups freshly fallen snow |
Directions:
1. Cream shortening and sugar. Add vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. 2. Beat often each addition. Go outside and get in snow; fold in snow. 3. Bake in greased and floured 8 inch square pan, at 350°F for 30 minutes or until pick inserted in center comes out clean. 4. Cool in pan. 5. Frost with favorite icing. |
