I love this recipe. This is one my mother has been making as far back as I can remember. I'm hosting a baby shower next weekend and the bride has requested a fruit salad. My mother got this recipe from a soldier's wife in 1956 when they were stationed on a base on Alexandria, Virginia. It has been a family favorite as far back as I can remember. Ingredients:
15 caramel cubes |
1 tablespoon water |
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter |
1/2 cup sour cream |
5 medium apples with skin on cut into bite size chunks |
5 small pears with skin on cut into bite size chunks |
1/2 cup drained crushed pineapple |
1 banana sliced |
Directions:
1. In microwave oven melt caramels in a bowl with water stirring often. 2. Stir in peanut butter then stir in sour cream. 3. Place caramel mixture in a large bowl and add fruit then stir well and chill. 4. Add banana slices to top before serving. |
