This is the tastiest, flakiest, most tender pie crust you will ever make. Also, unfortunately, it's a bit unheathly as it uses lard. Lard is necessary for 3 things......making a really wonderful pie crust..... Read more .....making exceptional French fries .....and frying doughnuts. Just don't do it everyday! Ingredients:
1 lb. of lard |
4 1/2 to 5 cups all pourpose flour |
1 tsp. salt |
1 tbl. sugar |
3 tsp baking powder |
cold water |
Directions:
1. Blend dry ingredients and lard with pastry blender or mixer with dough hook until of even texture and completely blended. 2. Add cold water starting with about 3/4 to 1 cup, add gradually until crust is consistency to roll out. 3. Crust may be rolled immediately or refrigerated for use later. 4. Bring to room temperature before rolling out. |
