Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
1/2 cup boiling water
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/4 cup sherry
1/4 cup brandy
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Directions:
1. Combine sugar, water, and butter in a saucepan, stirring well. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and cook, stirring constantly, 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in remaining ingredients, mixing well. Serve warm over pudding.
2. Note: This old-fashioned dessert sauce is especially good with gingerbread.
