When I was a kid I stayed with my Grandma for a week while she recovered from surgery. We made this one night and I fell in love with it. I wondered why my Mom had kept such a wonderful dish from us. I got this from Home Cooking magazine. Ingredients:
4 slices bacon, cut up |
1/4 cup vinegar |
2 tablespoons water |
2 green onions with tops, sliced |
2 teaspoons sugar |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
8 -10 cups torn leaf lettuce |
1 hard-boiled egg, chopped |
Directions:
1. Place lettuce in a big bowl. In a skillet cook bacon until crisp, remove from heat. 2. Stir in all ingredients into the skillet except lettuce and egg. When sugar is dissolved pour over the salad greens. Top with the egg and serve immediately. |
