Williamsburg Cake With Orange Butter Frosting

COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG CAKE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Bradley Estate in Arlington, Texas in 1987.
Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
5 eggs at room temperature
1/4 teaspoon lemon extract
1/4 teaspoon orange extract
2 cups plus 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups currants soaked overnight in bourbon or wine
orange butter frosting
1/2 cup butter softened
4-1/2 cups powdered sugar
4 tablespoons orange juice
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
Directions:
1. Lightly butter a loaf pan then line with waxed paper on bottom.
2. Lightly flour pan shaking out any excess.
3. Cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer.
4. Add eggs one at a time mixing well after each addition.
5. Add lemon and orange extracts then mix well.
6. Mix 2 cups of the flour, baking powder and cinnamon together.
7. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture then mix until well combined.
8. Mix currants with the remaining flour then add to batter.
9. Spoon batter into prepared pan and bake at 325 for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
10. Cool in pan 10 minutes then turn out on a rack to finish cooling .
11. To make frosting mix margarine and powdered sugar
12. Beat in juice and orange peel.
