Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread |

A healthier alternative to a family favorite! Ingredients:
3/4 cup of butter, softened |
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened |
3 very ripe bananas, mashed |
2 cups sugar |
2 eggs |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg |
1 cup all purpose flour |
2 cups whole wheat flour |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup chopped walnuts |
Directions:
1. Beat butter and cream cheese with an electric mixer until creamy. Mix in mashed bananas. Gradually add in sugar. Add eggs one at a time beating until just blended after each addition. Add in vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Combine flours and next 3 ingredients. Gradually add to banana mixture, beating at low speed until just blended. Stir in walnuts. Spoon batter into two well greased 8 X 4 in loafpans. Bake at 350F for one hour or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool bread on wire racks 10 minutes then remove from pans and contine to cool on racks 30 minutes before slicing. |
